Striping Replacement on K-96 in NW Sedgwick County
Replacement of permanent pavement markings (striping, lane skips, turn arrows, etc.) will require daytime lane closures in both directions. Work began on March 31.
Lane Closures on K-96 Bridges at Greenwich
The City of Wichita project adding two ramps to the K-96 & Greenwich interchange began March 3. The work includes an exit ramp for WB K-96 to Greenwich and an entrance ramp from Greenwich to EB K-96.
The right lane of both bridges (EB & WB K-96) will be closed until October. The EB K-96 Ramp to Greenwich will remain open.
13th St. Ramps at I-235
This two-year project began in December 2012 and will be completed in late 2014. It includes a ramp from EB 13th St. west of the Big Ditch onto SB I-235 and a ramp from NB I-235 to WB 13th St. A realignment of the 13th St. and Windmill Road area is included. On the east side of I-235, it includes a realignment of Hoover Rd. Bridge piers are currently being constructed across the Big Ditch.
- Concrete barrier has been placed on southbound and northbound I-235 from Central Ave to Zoo Blvd. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained for each direction but at reduced speeds (50 mph).
- A detour is planned for April 25 -- 27 for placement of bridge beams over I-235. Traffic from I-235 will be routed onto Central, West St. and Zoo Blvd.
Mill & Overlay on K-254 to begin April 15
Mill and asphalt overlay on K-254 from Woodlawn to the Butler County line will start on April 15. Expect daytime closures of a single lane. Traffic will be placed on milled surfaces for at least one week.
Overlays on 26 K-96 Bridges delayed until May
Minor bridge patching then polymer overlays will be installed on 26 K-96 bridges from I-135 to U.S. 54 in east Wichita. Nighttime work could begin on Sunday, May 11 or 18 on bridges from I-135 to Webb Road. Daytime work could begin on May 12 0r 19 for bridges from 21st Street to U.S. 54.
