Right of Way Research
All KDOT land records are archived and maintained by the
Engineering Section of the Bureau
of Right of Way. These records include, but are not limited
to, highway improvement project plan files; right of way strip
maps; tract files that include copies of the instrument of
conveyance (deeds, district court proceedings, etc.); coordinate
geometry point lists; etc.
Nearly all of the above noted archived records are available
to the public upon request. In fact, the Bureau of Right of
Way's Engineering Section processes
research requests on a daily basis.
The requestor should have the following location information
to aid in facilitating the research:
- County
- Highway
- Section, Township, and Range
Also, the requestor should specify the types of records
that they desire. Fees associated with providing this information
and research are set forth in the Kansas Department of Transportation's
Standard Operating Manual. They are as follows:
- Plans: 50¢ per linear foot
- Fax: 25¢ page per page
- Copies: 25¢ per page
- 1.44MB, 3.5" floppy disk: $1.00 per disk
- CD-ROM: $1.00 per disc
- Time and Labor: $16.62 per hour
Please specify the desired method of delivery. There may
be additional charges for delivery. Additionally, sales tax
will be assessed.
