No The KTA is a private authority and therefore establishes it own standards of operation. Call 316-682-4537 or view the KTA Internet site to learn more about transporting loads on the KTA.
May permitted loads be convoyed?
Permitted vehicle and loads traveling in convoy shall not have more than 1,000 feet between each transporting vehicle. A maximum of two permitted loads may travel in a convoy.

Since the Kansas Trucking Connection offers many different types of permits, the validity of permits varies from 7 days in the case of the standard permit to one year for an annual permit. Check the "forms" page on this site for a listing of all the available permits.

Kansas allows permitted loads to move 365 days per calendar year, provided a permit has been obtained prior to moving the load.
Are permits required for overhanging loads?
The Kansas Trucking Connection does not issue permits for overhanging equipment. Movers should make every effort to maintain legal overhang on their transporting vehicles ( 3 feet to the front and 4 feet to the rear). In those instances when this is not possible, the end of the overhanging object shall be flagged and a lamp shall be placed at the end of the load to enhance the visibility of the overhanging object.
According to K.S.A. 8-1911(b) I am not required to obtain a permit. Does this allow me to exceed legal standards with regard to being oveweight?
