Once a sign or traffic controlling device is installed by KDOT is the device ever temporally moved or relocated?

Yes

There are times when it becomes necessary to remove or relocate signs once they have been installed along the highway. For example, house movers occasionally need to remove the signs in order to allow the width of the house to pass though a location. However, it is the responsibility of the mover to contact the appropriate district office before moving to obtain permission to remove the sign(s).

In all cases, it is imperative the sign(s) be reinstalled at the same location and at the same height as the original placement of the sign immediately after the vehicle and load have passed beyond the site. Failure to do this, creates a hazard to the traveling public and could result in traffic accident or a loss of life.
