Campus BLAST encourages students to appoint a designated
driver within their own group of friends before heading out
for a night on the town and/or to use available safe ride
programs. Keychains featuring local safe ride phone numbers
are provided for student distribution.
Drinking establishments in these college communities are
also asked to participate by offering complimentary soft drinks
to individual designated drivers. Participating establishments
are provided with free supplies such as plastic cups, signage,
coasters and buttons for wait
staff to wear.
TIPS for the University is a video we have available to loan to college communities. This alcohol intervention training program teaches participants in a social setting to recognize, detect and prevent intoxication. It prepares students and administrators with the techniques and confidence to intervene effectively to prevent alcohol-related problems. Participants are taught how alcohol affects the body, the legal liabilities associated with consumption of alcohol, signs of intoxication and strategies to prevent underage drinking and high-risk consumption.
