Short term project closures listed below typically take place during daylight hours. Project completion dates typically range from 1 to 30 days. All closures and scheduled work are weather permitting and subject to change.

 

 

SHAWNEE COUNTY 

 

I-470 Sign Replacement Project

EXPECT MINOR DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURES:  On Monday, June 22, weather permitting, a sign replacement project will begin on a 6.7 mile stretch of I-470 from the I-70 interchange to the U.S. 75 interchange.  

DAYTIME WORK & TRAFFIC IMPACTS: The week of August 10-14, daytime work will begin Monday-Friday during daylight hours (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) on the shoulders along I-470 with varying lane closures if needed. Crews will replace all post mounted green signs, brown information signs, route markers and mile markers during the daytime hours. The scheduled completion date for the project is mid-September 2015. (REV. 7-29-15) 

  

 

DOUGLAS COUNTY 

 

 

Louisiana Street > #K10SLT

REOPENING DATE! The portion of Louisiana Street south of Relocated 31st Street will OPEN to all traffic in late September 2015, weather permitting.  (NEW 7-27-15)

SHAWNEE COUNTY

 

 

I-470 Sign Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-September 2015

K-10 & Bob Billings Parkway Interchange Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early November 2015

WEEKDAY WORK: Beginning on Monday, July 28, project work will begin to construct a new diamond interchange at K-10 and Bob Billings Parkway. Most work will take place off the highway itself, so there will be little to no traffic impacts in the early phases of construction. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early November 2015. (NEW 7-25-14) 

K-10 South Lawrence Trafficway > > #K10SLT 
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2016

On Tuesday, November 12, 2013, a three-year construction project began to complete the six-mile four-lane K-10 South Lawrence Trafficway freeway. The project will move existing K-10 onto a new alignment that will begin at the south junction of the U.S. 59 and K-10 interchange and reconnect with existing K-10 in east Lawrence (Douglas County). Construction work on the project will be completed in phases. Each phase includes specific work and advance notification will be sent under separate cover for each phase of construction, including planned traffic impacts. K-10 from E1650 Road to E1900 Road

TRAFFIC SHIFT! EXPECT MINOR DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Eastbound and westbound K-10 from E1650 Road to E1900 Road will continue to be reduced to ONE LANE in each direction, with one change: the eastbound K-10 single lane will be shifted side-by-side into the existing westbound K-10 passing lane. Both eastbound and westbound K-10 traffic will then be traveling side-by-side on the existing westbound K-10 lanes in this area. This new traffic shift will be in place, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12 through late December 2015 in Lawrence (Douglas County). O’Connell Road (E1600 Road) South of 31st Street (N1300 Road) Intersection

24/7 INTERSECTION CLOSURE: O’Connell Road (E1600 Road) south of 31st Street (N1300 Road) Intersection will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for roundabout construction work beginning on Tuesday, September 2. Project work is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2015. (REV. 6-24-15)

31st Street

24/7 FULL ROADWAY CLOSURES: Eastbound and westbound 31st Street from E1700 Road to E1750 Road in Lawrence (Douglas County) will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for box culvert construction work beginning on Monday, December 9 at 7:00 a.m., weather permitting, through Fall 2015. (REV. 6-24-15)

E1750 Road

24/7 FULL ROADWAY CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound E1750 Road from past the intersection of N1360 Road/25th Street to N1250 Rd/35th Street will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for bridge embankment work beginning on Monday morning, August 11. Project work is scheduled to be completed in Summer 2015. (NEW 8-11-14)
