Welcome to Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation
Walking and Bicycling in Kansas
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is dedicated to supporting a multimodal transportation network that promotes the health and safety of our residents and visitors, the environment and our economy. Walking and bicycling are important modes of travel for people of all ages and abilities throughout our state. These modes contribute to the quality of life for our communities by providing healthy and affordable forms of transportation that connect people to places of work, worship, education, public transit and recreation. So if you call Kansas home or are just visiting, there is always something new to discover. Here you can immerse yourself in postcard-esque landscapes full of wildlife and explore historic cities that were once the home of American legends like John Brown, Wyatt Earp, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Amelia Earhart.
Whether you walk or ride a bike for sport, leisure or for personal transportation, KDOT considers the travel needs for pedestrians and bicyclists and strives to include the appropriate amenities where public support is indicated. Our hope is to connect people to the wide variety of amenities that make our state one-of-a-kind.
