KDOT’s primary activities include the planning, design and maintenance of Kansas roadways. KDOT also provides data collection and evaluation; federal program funding administration; and administrative support. From its website, you can access downloadable maps (state, county and city), view mileage charts, get information about motor vehicle registration, drivers licenses and more. The site also hosts a timely "Road Conditions" page that reports everything from wind speed to pavement temperatures, as well as current weather conditions.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration was established within the Department of Transportation on January 1, 2000. Formerly a part of the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries

 

Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) seeks to prevent motor vehicle crashes and reduce crash injuries. IIHS offers miscellaneous information, including vehicle safety test ratings.

 

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
The NHTSA, under the U.S. Department of Transportation, is responsible for reducing deaths, injuries and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes. It provides information on everything from airbags and tires to driving tips and crash statistics. A toll-free Auto Safety Hotline provides recall information, receives motor vehicle SAFETY complaints, and furnishes consumer information on auto safety.
