Construction Will Effect Traffic In South Topeka
Traffic changes for motorists traveling from Topeka Boulevard
to I-470 and the Kansas Turnpike Authority began Monday, Feb.
15.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, these
changes are necessary to allow for construction to continue to
improve the alignment in the area where I-470, Topeka Boulevard
and the KTA connect.
The traffic changes include:
- I-470 will be reduced to one lane in each direction for
½ mile west of Topeka Boulevard.
- KTA traffic to and from I-470 will also be reduced to one
lane in each direction in this area.
- KTA traffic will not be able to directly access Topeka
Boulevard. Motorists will need to take I-470 west and exit at
Burlingame Road or Gage Boulevard.
- Topeka Boulevard traffic will not be able to directly
access the KTA. Motorists will need to take I-470 east to the
KTA.
- The eastbound I-470 exit to Topeka Boulevard will remain
open.
These changes will be in effect for about four months.
Clarkson Construction Company of Kansas City, Mo., is the
contractor on the $8.5 million project. The entire project is
expected to be completed this fall.
