Kansas finishes second for national award

Kansas finished a strong second in the voting for the national People’s Choice Award – one of two categories of America’s Transportation Award. Only a Mississippi project garnered more votes than our innovative 87th Street/I-35 interchange project. Of the 55,000 votes cast for the 10 finalist states, Kansas had about 11,000.

Thank you to all who voted for our project. It was a great effort.

I’m proud of our project and appreciative of all the votes you cast. Kansas citizens and our leaders have long supported transportation, allowing important projects such as the 87th Street/I-35 interchange to be built. As we approach the end of the current 10-year Comprehensive Transportation Program, we will continue to need that same commitment to maintain the good system we have and to build a transportation system that enhances the safety of travelers and supports the Kansas economy.

Thank you again for your support and your vote.
