MANAGING KANSAS’ ROADSIDES

These areas left unmown for wildflower growth and wildlife cover may concern adjacent landowners. KDOT makes an effort to keep these areas free of unwanted vegetation. Landowners are allowed to mow the right-of-way in front of their property to be consistent with how they maintain the rest of their front yard. They are asked to use caution when mowing close to the edge of the highway and keep the safety of them-selves and the traveling public in mind at all times. Landscape improvements may be allowed on highway right-of-way by adjacent landowners by obtaining a permit from any local KDOT office.
