KDOT announces City Connecting Link resurfacing projects

State and local funds totaling $9.9 million were approved recently for 27 construction projects in cities statewide through the Kansas Department of Transportation's City Connecting Kink (KLINK) resurfacing program.

The program financially assists local governments in making needed road improvements on city connecting links. The projects are on city streets that connect two rural portions of the state highway system.

All cities with city connecting links within their corporate boundaries are eligible for KLINK resurfacing projects. City connecting links on the Interstate System are not eligible for the KLINK resurfacing program. Project scopes vary from surface replacement to minor patching, joint repair or overlay.

The state's participation in the cost of construction and construction engineering is 75 percent for cities with a population of less than 10,000 or 50 percent for cities with a population of 10,000 or greater, up to a maximum of $200,000 of state funds.
