2000 to 2005

2001
August 1 - The East Topeka Interchange project was opened. It greatly improved the alignment in east Topeka on the Kansas Turnpike, I-70, K-4 and US-40.

2004
Reconstruction of the I-635/I-70 interchange in Kansas City is completed. These two routes combined carry about 150,000 vehicles a day.

2005
August - I-435 Reconstruction, the largest project in KDOT's history, was let to construction at $127.5 million. More than 130,000 vehicles travel every day on I-435.
