Impaired Driving Deterrence Program (IDDP)

 

The Impaired Driving Deterrence Program (I.D.D.P.) awards grants to participating Kansas law enforcement agencies to increase education and enforcement efforts directed at compliance with Kansas impaired driving laws. Enforcement is accomplished through funding for up to eight overtime mobilizations or enforcements - consisting of saturation patrol or checkpoint operations.

Grant periods run Octoer 1 - September 30

Required Training

Any officer assigned to an I.D.D.P. enforcement operation should be fully trained in DWI Detection and the battery of Standard Field Sobriety Tests (SFST).

All checkpoints will be conducted with a checkpoint supervisor present and in charge of operations.

Training for checkpoint supervisors and currency in SFST can be obtained thru the Kansas Highway Patrol's Drug and Alcohol Evaluation Unit. For a schedule of training, or to request training in your local area, please contact LaVonda Hooper at (785) 822-1765.
