UPCOMING 24/7 30-DAY FULL RAMP CLOSURE: Eastbound I-435 to Antioch Road Exit Ramp CLOSED for ramp tie-in construction work, 24/7 round the clock, for 30-days beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 3 and reopening on Wednesday, November 2, weather permitting. Marked detour will be provided. Eastbound I-435 traffic will detour via southbound U.S. 69 to eastbound College Boulevard to access Antioch Road. See marked detour map above. Access from U.S. 69 to Antioch Road exit ramp will remain open. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, November 2. (REV. 9-19-16) 

K-10

95th Street/Lenexa Drive/Marshall Drive

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound 95th Street RIGHT TURN and RIGHT LANE before Monrovia Street CLOSED for curb and gutter repair on Wednesday, September 28 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, September 28. (NEW 9-27-16)

FLAGGING OPERATION: 95th Street, Marshall Drive and Lenexa Drive will have a flagging operation for manhole adjustments on Thursday-Friday, September 29-30 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, September 30. (NEW 9-28-16)

Lackman Road

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Southbound Lackman Road RIGHT LANE from 105th Street to 101st Terrace CLOSED for bridge pour work on Wednesday, September 28 between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, September 28. (NEW 9-27-16) 

SHORT-TERM 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound Lackman Road RIGHT LANES at the I-435 interchange CLOSED for median and turn lane construction beginning at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28 for 14 days, reopening on Wednesday, October 12. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, October 12. (REV. 9-27-16)

Pflumm Road

FLAGGING OPERATION: Pflumm Road at I-435 will have a flagging operation for bridge painting work on Thursday-Friday, September 29-30 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, September 30. (NEW 9-28-16)

14-DAY FULL ROAD CLOSURE: Northbound and southbound Pflumm Road under the I-35 bridges FULLY CLOSED for roadway construction work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 5 a.m. on Thursday, September 29 for 14 days through Thursday, October 13, weather permitting. Advance message boards will alert drivers to the full roadway closure. A marked detour will be provided via Lenexa Drive and 95th Street. Project work is scheduled to be completed on October 13. (NEW 9-28-16)

Northbound I-435 Bridge over Midland Drive Bridge Deck Repair Project 

24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Northbound I-435 LEFT LANE from 79th Street to just over the Midland Drive Bridge CLOSED (right lane will reopen) for bridge deck pavement repairs beginning at NOON 12 p.m. on Friday, September 23, through mid-October 2016, weather permitting. In addition, Midland Drive LEFT LANE under the I-435 Bridge CLOSED same day and same time throughout the project duration, in order to help keep the motorists traveling under the I-435 bridge repair work on Midland Drive safe. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-October 2016. K-7/Parker Street

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURES: Northbound K-7/Parker Street at eastbound Dennis Avenue REDUCED TO ONE OPEN LANE for construction of a new right turn lane beginning on Thursday, August 25 through late September 2016, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2016. (NEW 8-24-16) 

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Westbound Old U.S. 56 at northbound K-7/Parker Street REDUCED TO ONE OPEN LANE for construction of a new right turn lane beginning on Friday, August 26 through late September 2016, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2016(NEW 8-24-16) 

U.S. 69 from South Johnson County Line to Blue Valley Parkway Ramps Pavement Marking Project 

WEEKDAY/WEEKEND DAY LANE CLOSURES:  Northbound and southbound U.S. 69 from Johnson County line to Blue Valley Parkway ramps REDUCED TO ONE OPEN LANE via a mobile operation for permanent pavement marking work beginning TODAY, Friday, September 23, daily, Monday-Saturday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through mid-October 2016, weather permitting. Traffic will be directed through the mobile operations project work zone via arrow boards, cones and signage. Drivers should expect MAJOR DELAYS during peak commute times and allow extra time for their daily commutes. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-October 2016. (NEW 9-23-16)

Northbound I-635 Bridge Over K-5 Bridge Repair Project 

24/7 WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURES: Northbound I-635 RIGHT LANE (one through lane open) on the bridge over northbound K-5 CLOSED for bridge deck pavement repair work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 26 and will reopen to traffic at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, weather permitting. Advance message boards are in place alerting traffic to the lane closure. Traffic will be directed through the work zone via message boards, cones and signage. Drivers should expect delays during their daily commutes and should allow extra time during this 24/7 lane closure. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, September 29. K-10, I-435 & Lackman Road Interchange

LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURES: Westbound I-435 to Lackman Road exit ramp CLOSED for westbound collector-distributor road construction work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 15 through early October 2016, weather permitting. Westbound I-435 traffic will detour via southbound I-35 to westbound 95th Street to access southbound Lackman Road or via northbound I-435 to eastbound 95th Street to access Lackman Road. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2016.  (REV. 8-18-16)

LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURES: Lackman Road to westbound I-435 entrance ramp CLOSED for westbound collector-distributor road construction work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 15 through early October 2016, weather permitting. Marked detours provided. Southbound Lackman Road traffic will detour via westbound College Boulevard to northbound Renner Boulevard to the K-10 interchange to access westbound I-435. Northbound Lackman Road traffic will detour via westbound 95th Street to the I-435 interchange.  Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2016.  (REV. 8-18-16)

I-35 & I-435 Interchange Long-Term Loop Ramp Closure 

24/7 LONG-TERM LOOP RAMP CLOSURE: Southbound I-35 to eastbound I-435 loop ramp CLOSED for pavement reconstruction and tie-in work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 10 p.m. on Monday, April 11 through late October 2016, weather permitting. SB I-35 to EB I-435 ramp traffic to detour via southbound I-35 to southbound U.S. 69 to eastbound I-435 or via eastbound 119th Street northbound I-35 to eastbound I-435. We recommend that drivers use the detour route via southbound U.S. 69, and NOT the eastbound 119th Street route. The eastbound 119th Street detour route is provided as a backup marked detour route for those drivers who miss the southbound U.S. 69 detour route. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2016 (REV. 8-18-16)

101st Street

LONG-TERM 24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound 101st Street RIGHT LANE from Lackman Rd to just east of the ramp terminals CLOSED for ramp reconstruction work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, August 22 through November 2016. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2016. (NEW 8-19-16) 


I-35 at Southwest Boulevard Bridge Repair Project > MODOT PROJECT

24/7 LONG-TERM LANE CLOSURES: Bridge joint replacement will close various lanes of northbound and southbound I-35 on the bridge over Southwest Boulevard near State Line beginning 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 through October. Although work is conducted in separate phases, traffic during peak hours will be maintained with two lanes open in both directions throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should expect delays when traveling in the area, and are urged to seek an alternate route.  All work is weather dependent. Project work is scheduled to be completed in October 2016.  (NEW 8-2-16) 

Southbound I-35 bridge joint replacement includes the following:           

  • Southbound I-35 joint work done in three phases. Traffic will encounter various lane closures for each phase. 
  • One lane of southbound I-35 closing at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 for traffic control setup.  
  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane beginning 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. 
  • When finished Tuesday morning, traffic control will be in place and southbound will have at least one lane closed until the expansion joint work is done in October.  
  • Lane closures are expected on I-35 from 27th Street to the Cambridge Circle.  

Northbound I-35 bridge joint replacement includes the following:  

  • Northbound I-35 work is done in two phases.  
  • One lane of northbound I-35 closing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 for traffic control setup.  
  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane beginning 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 through 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10.  
  • When finished Wednesday morning, traffic control will be in place and northbound will have at least one lane closed until the expansion joint work is done in October. 
  • Lane closures are expected on I-35 from 7th Street Trafficway to Jarboe Street.  
  • Ramp closures include the northbound on ramp from the Cambridge Circle to I-35 through the duration of the project; and the 7th Street Trafficway on ramp to northbound I-35 closing during phase two of the project.  

I-35, I-435 & U.S. 69 KC Scout DMS Board Retrofit Project 

WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT SHORT-TERM FULL ROAD CLOSURES: There will be varying lane and overnight needed as part of a KC Scout Dynamic Message Sign Retrofit Project to bring seven sign board’s internal operating systems up-to-date. Project work includes removal of the existing boards from the roadway which will then be moved to another location, so that new internal operating equipment can be installed within the signs. The signs will look exactly the same externally as only internal components are being replaced. Temporary message boards will be in place until these original boards are retrofitted and reinstalled. Each sign is expected to take approximately two weeks to be completed and reinstalled, weather permitting.  Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in December 2016. (NEW 7-14-16)

There are seven different DMS locations primarily in Johnson County with the exception of one location in Wyandotte County as follows:

Location 1: Northbound U.S.69 one-half a mile north of 135th Street/Santa Fe Street.
Location 2: Northbound I-35 one-quarter mile north of 127th Street. Scheduled for removal: July 14, 2016.
Location 3: Southbound I-35 one-half mile north of 95th Street. Scheduled for removal: July 18, 2016. 
Location 4: Northbound I-35 one-half mile north of 24th Street.
Location 5: Northbound and southbound I-35 one-half mile north of Roe Lane.
Location 6: Southbound I-435 one-quarter mile north of 79th Street.
Location 7: Eastbound I-435 one-quarter mile east of Mission Road.

I-35 from Southwest Boulevard to 95th Street Resurfacing Project

WEEKDAY/WEEKEND OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES: On Wednesday, March 23, weather permitting, a concrete pavement repair and asphalt overlay project will begin on a 10-mile stretch of northbound and southbound I-35 from 95th Street to Southwest Boulevard, including all adjacent interchange ramps (Johnson County). Crews will complete partial and full depth patching to the existing concrete pavement, followed by a 4-inch asphalt overlay on various sections, and all new permanent pavement markings. Work will take place overnight beginning at 8 p.m. and reopening to all traffic at 5 a.m. the following morning, daily, Wednesday and Thursday; and on weekends from 8 p.m. Friday through 8 a.m. Saturday; and from 8 p.m. Saturday through late Sunday afternoon. Project work is scheduled to be completed in Late October 2016. (NEW 3-10-16)

K-10 Eastbound over Sunflower Road Bridge Repair Project

TRAFFIC SHIFT &  24/7 LONG-TERM LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound K-10 LEFT LANE over the Sunflower Road Bridge and on either side of the bridge CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for repair work beginning TOMORROW, Thursday, August 11 through November 2016, weather permitting. Crews have completed all repair work on the right lane over the bridge and will now switch traffic in order to complete repair work on the left lane of the bridge. Project work is scheduled to be completed in November 2016. (REV. 8-10-16)

U.S. 69 from Blue Valley Parkway to 215th Street KC Scout Expansion Project

WEEKDAY WORK & SHOULDER IMPACTS: On Monday, February 15, a project will begin to expand the KC Scout dynamic message signs and cameras along U.S. 69 from the Blue Valley Parkway ramp to 215th Street. The majority of the project work will take place beyond the roadway shoulders on the highway right of way. There may be some occasional shoulder closures. Drivers should expect only minimal delays, primarily minor impacts only from trucks entering and leaving the project work zone throughout the project duration. Project work is scheduled to be completed by mid-July 2016. (NEW 2-15-16)

U.S. 69 Over 119th Street Bridge Repair Project

24/7 LONG-TERM LANE CLOSURE: Northbound U.S. 69 LEFT LANE over the 119th Street Bridge CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, beginning on Wednesday, August 31 throughout the project duration. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2016. (REV. 8-31-16) 

U.S. 69 Northbound Blue River Bridge Replacement Project

24/7 LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURE: 179th Street to northbound U.S. 69 entrance ramp CLOSED for adjacent bridge overlay work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 2 throughout the project duration, weather permitting. A marked detour will be provided. 179th Street ramp traffic will detour via southbound U.S. 69 to 199th Street exit and then back on northbound U.S. 69 to 179th street exit. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2016. (NEW 6-1-16) 

24/7 LONG-TERM LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 69 over the Blue River Bridge will continue to be reduced to one lane each direction, placed side-by-side on the southbound U.S. 69 bridge,  throughout the project duration. Northbound U.S. 69 traffic currently entering the work zone travels in the right lane, but after tomorrow’s traffic switch, northbound U.S. 69 traffic will enter the work zone in the left lane and then be moved into the right lane just north of the 179th Street Bridge, before they cross over to the southbound side of U.S. 69. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2016. (NEW 6-1-16) 

 

 

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY

 

K-7/U.S. 73/4th Street & Poplar Avenue Intersection Improvement Project 

24/7 ROAD & LANE CLOSURES: Northbound K-7/U.S. 73/4th Street from Pennsylvania Street to Linn Street will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE and Poplar Avenue from 2nd Street to 4th Street CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 27 throughout the project duration. Traffic will follow a marked detour via southbound Spruce Street or northbound Marion Street to 2nd Street to access Poplar Avenue. Later in the project during Phase Two construction, southbound K-7/U.S. 73/4th Street from Linn Street to Pennsylvania Street will be reduced to one open lane. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late Fall 2016. (NEW 6-24-16)

K-32 Over I-70/KTA Bridge Replacement Project

LONG-TERM FULL BRIDGE CLOSURE: Eastbound and westbound K-32 Bridge I-70/Kansas Turnpike will be FULLY CLOSED to all traffic for construction of a new replacement bridge beginning early morning on Monday, February 22 in Leavenworth County. On Monday, January 4, a replacement project began on the K-32 Bridge over I-70/Kansas Turnpike in Leavenworth County. Project work includes replacement of the existing 310-foot steel girder bridge (with 28-foot wide roadway) with a 325-foot welded plate girder bridge (with 47-foot wide roadway). Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work. This KDOT bridge replacement construction project oversight will be managed in conjunction with our partner agency, the Kansas Turnpike Authority. Preliminary preparation work on the project began this past Monday, January 4. Beginning in late February 2016, eastbound and westbound K-32 over the I-70/KTA bridge will be closed to all traffic throughout the project duration. A marked detour will be provided. K-32 traffic will detour via K-7 north to U.S. 24/40 west and south back to K-32 and vice versa. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early January 2017. (REV. 4-29-16)

 

 

 

WYANDOTTE COUNTY

 

Eastbound I-70 to Southbound Turner Diagonal Freeway Exit Ramp Closure

24/7 LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURE: Eastbound I-70 to southbound Turner Diagonal Freeway exit ramp CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for adjacent construction and bridge demolition work on the Unified Government of Wyandotte County’s new at-grade Turner Diagonal and Riverview Avenue intersection project beginning on Wednesday, September 14 through May 2017, weather permitting. This new intersection work is in preparation for traffic that will be generated via the adjacent construction underway on the new Amazon Distribution Facility. Additional ramp closures are scheduled to occur throughout the project duration.  weather permitting. Advance message boards will provide a marked detour route via eastbound I-70 to southbound 57th Street to westbound Kaw Drive to access Turner Diagonal Freeway. The overall intersection project is scheduled to be completed in May 2017. (NEW 9-20-16)

I-435 at I-70 Interchange Multi-Bridge Repair Project

LONG-TERM LANE & RAMP CLOSURES: A multi-bridge repair project will begin on the I-435 bridges at the I-70 interchange with the following closures taking place beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10 through the project duration. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early October 2016.  (REV. 5-9-16) 

Northbound and southbound I-435 from north of I-70 to south of I-70 over the bridges will be reduced to two open lanes, 24/7 round the clock.

Westbound I-70 to southbound I-435 ramp CLOSED. Marked detour via westbound I-70 to northbound I-435 to westbound State Avenue to access southbound I-435. A suggested secondary detour route via 110th Street back to eastbound I-70 to 78th Street exit back to westbound I-70 to northbound I-435 to westbound State Avenue to access southbound I-435. 

U.S. 69 over Missouri River Bridge Replacement Project (MoDOT/KDOT Project) > #us69moriverbridge

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 69 from I-635 (in Missouri) to Kindleberger Road in Kansas will be reduced to one lane in each direction, 24/7, beginning on Friday, October 24 for bridge replacement work. Both northbound and southbound U.S. 69 traffic will travel on the existing northbound U.S. 69 bridge (Platte Purchase Bridge). A crossover will be used to shift southbound U.S. 69 traffic to the existing Platte Purchase Bridge. The traffic switch is scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2014 and traffic will remain in this configuration until Thursday, December 1, 2016. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, December 1, 2016. (NEW 10-27-14)

U.S. 169 (Rainbow Boulevard)

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURES: Northbound U.S. 169 Rainbow Boulevard at the West 39th Street Intersection will have varying lane closures for adjacent building construction beginning on Monday, September 28. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late May 2017. (NEW 9-28-15)
