EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT RAMP CLOSURE: Quivira Road to westbound I-435 entrance ramp will be CLOSED for temporary striping work beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26 and will reopen to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27. Message boards will direct Quivira Road traffic to detour via College Boulevard to northbound U. S. 69 to 103rd Street exit to southbound U.S. 69 back to westbound I-435. EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT RAMP CLOSURE: Quivira Road to eastbound I-435 entrance ramp will be CLOSED for temporary striping work beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2 and will reopen to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3. Westbound I-435 from U.S. 69 to I-35

UPCOMING TRAFFIC SHIFT: Westbound I-435 traffic from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35 will be shifted to the south with three through and one auxiliary lane for reconstruction work on the westbound I-435 lanes, 24/7 round the clock, beginning on Thursday, September 4 through late 2014, weather permitting. Crews will begin setting traffic control at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3 and the traffic shift will be in place before morning rush hour on Thursday, September 4, weather permitting.

Westbound I-435 traffic (from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35) will travel through the work zone via three through lanes and one auxiliary lane as follows:

1) Far left lane traffic will travel through the work zone only directed via concrete barrier on either side of the driving lane. Traffic will travel on an 11-foot wide driving lane with an approximate 2-foot left shoulder and 8-foot right shoulder (lane is located in former eastbound I-435 lane/median area).
2) Center lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
3) Right lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
4) Far right auxiliary lane will be used for traffic wishing to access the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges 

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the traffic shift. There will be an 11-foot lane width restriction and a 55 mph posted speed limit through the project work zone throughout the project duration. Note: Eastbound I-435 traffic through this area has already been shifted to the south slightly to accommodate the westbound I-435 traffic shift. All ramp access will remain open at the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late 2014. (NEW 8-25-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES: Westbound I-435 left lanes from K-10 to 95th Street will be CLOSED for temporary striping work with ONE LEFT LANE CLOSED beginning at 8:00 p.m. and TWO LEFT LANES CLOSED at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27 and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, August 28. (REV. 8-26-14)

I-35 & 67th Street Interchange Ramp Closures

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 RAMP LANE CLOSURE: Southbound I-35 to 67th Street exit ramp reduced to ONE OPEN LANE, 24/7 round the clock, for emergency gas line repair work (gas line is located under the ramp pavement) beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Monday, September 9. (REV. 8-25-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 RAMP CLOSURE: 67th Street to northbound I-35 entrance ramp CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for emergency gas line repair work (gas line is located under the ramp pavement) beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Monday, September 9. (REV. 8-25-14)

I-35 & 75th Street Interchange Ramp Closures

CLOSED RAMPS SET TO REOPEN! EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 RAMP CLOSURES: Northbound I-35 to 75th Street exit ramp and 75th Street to southbound I-35 entrance ramp will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for pavement repair work for a City of Overland Park construction project beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10 through late August 2014, weather permitting. The 75th Street to northbound I-35 entrance ramp will be restricted to right turns only during this same timeframe. Marked detours will be provided. Northbound I-35 traffic will detour via 67th Street exit and take eastbound 67th Street to Antioch Road, then southbound Antioch Road to eastbound 75th Street back to northbound I-35. 75th Street to southbound I-35 traffic will proceed eastbound on 75th Street across the bridge over I-35 to Antioch Road, then northbound on Antioch Road to westbound 67th Street back to southbound I-35. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, September 2. (REV. 8-22-14)

OPEN RAMPS SET TO CLOSE! EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 RAMP CLOSURES: Southbound I-35 to 75th Street exit ramp and 75th Street to northbound I-35 entrance ramp will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for pavement repair work for a City of Overland Park construction project beginning sometime on Tuesday, September 2 through late October 2014. Marked detours will be provided. Southbound I-35 traffic will detour via 67th Street exit and take eastbound 67th Street to Antioch Road, then southbound Antioch Road to eastbound 75th Street back to southbound I-35. 75th Street to northbound I-35 traffic will proceed eastbound on 75th Street across the bridge over I-35 to Antioch Road, then northbound on Antioch Road to westbound 67th Street back to northbound I-35. I-435 & Roe Avenue Diverging Diamond Interchange Project

K-7/U.S. 169 at I-35 Pavement Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed by late September 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE & RAMP CLOSURES: Northbound and Southbound K-7/U.S. 169 from Hamilton Circle to 153rd Street is now open to a single through lane each direction for pavement replacement work. The ramps from K-7/U.S. 169 and 151st Street are reduced one lane for pavement patching. Periodic weekend closures on intersections will occur for pavement replacement. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2014.  (Rev. 7-16-14)

K-10 from Douglas County Line to Woodland Road Crack Seal Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early October 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES: Westbound K-10 left lane from Woodland Road to K-7 will be CLOSED for crack seal repair work overnight beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Monday-Tuesday, August 25-26 and reopening to all traffic at 5:30 a.m. the following morning. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, August 27. (NEW 8-25-14) 

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES: Westbound K-10 left lane from Cedar Creek Parkway to Kill Creek Road will be CLOSED for crack seal repair work overnight beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27 and will reopen to all traffic at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 28. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, August 28. (NEW 8-26-14) 

U.S. 56

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound and westbound U.S. 56 from west of Center Street to west city limits of Gardner and from Elm Street to Sycamore Street will be reduced to one lane each direction for asphalt mill and inlay work on Monday-Friday, August 25-29 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, August 29. (NEW 8-22-14) 

U.S. 169 at 159th Street

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Northbound U.S. 169 right lane from 159th Street to the south 1,000 feet will be CLOSED for pavement widening work beginning on Monday, July 14. Lane closures will be in place daily, Monday-Saturday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late August 2014. (New 7-16-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY 24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Northbound I-435 RIGHT LANE over the Metropolitan Avenue bridge (between K-32 and Kansas Avenue) will be CLOSED for bridge deck repair work beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26 and reopening to all traffic at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28. NOTE: Traffic control set up will begin around 8:30 a.m., thus traffic may start slowing at this time due to activity taking place on the highway shoulders and right of way. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, August 28. (NEW 8-22-14) 

K-5 from I-635 to Sunshine Road Repair & Resurfacing Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late August 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound K-5 from I-635 to Sunshine Road will be reduced to one lane each direction for repair and resurfacing work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11 throughout the project duration. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late August 2014. (New 8-4-14 6 p.m.) 

K-5 from I-435 to U.S. 73 Resurfacing Project

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound K-7 from I-435 to U.S. 73 will be reduced to one lane for both directions for resurfacing work beginning on Monday, August 18. Traffic will be directed via pilot car and flagger operation through the project work zone. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-September 2014. (NEW 8-15-14)

I-35 Spoon Creek & Bull Creek Bridge Repair Project

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 over Spoon Creek and Bull Creek between Sunflower Road and Homestead Lane exits will be reduced to one lane each direction, 24/7 round the clock, for bridge repair work beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, through early September 2014. I-435 at 87th Street Bridge Repair Project

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound I-435 at 87th Street will be reduced to two open lanes beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14 and then at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, southbound I-435 at 87th Street will be reduced to two open lanes and these lane closures will remain in place, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration for bridge repair work. LONG-TERM 24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Northbound Roe Avenue left lane at 109th Street will be CLOSED for bridge work beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22 and will reopen to all traffic on Friday, October 31. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 8-21-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 ROADWAY CLOSURE: Roe Avenue over I-435 will be CLOSED to all traffic through beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, as crews complete construction work on the new Roe Avenue bridges. Marked detours will be provided. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (New 5-28-14)

24/7 RAMP LANE CLOSURE: Westbound I-435 to Roe Avenue entrance ramp left turn lane will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock beginning on Wednesday, May 28 at 9:00 a.m. for bridge replacement work. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (Rev. 5-30-14)

24/7 RAMP LANE CLOSURES: All left turn movements from eastbound I-435 ramps to Roe Avenue will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock beginning on Thursday, May 29 at 9:00 a.m. for bridge replacement work. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (Rev. 5-30-14)

 

 

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY

 

U.S. 73 / K-7 Pavement Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 73/K-7 from 20th Street to the north junction of Leavenworth County Road 14/Santa Fe Trail will be CLOSED to all traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7 for pavement replacement work. A marked detour will be provided via Leavenworth County Road 14. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014. (New 7-3-14)

 

WYANDOTTE COUNTY

 

I-70 & K-7 Interchange Project
Overall project work scheduled to be completed in late Fall 2014

K-7 from Kansas Avenue to Riverview Drive

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound K-7 from south of Kansas Avenue to north of Riverview Avenue will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE each direction and shifted side by side in the existing northbound lanes, 24/7 round the clock, beginning after morning rush hour on Thursday, July 31 through late September 2014, weather permitting. This traffic shift is needed for reconstruction work on the southbound K-7 lanes. Also, the I-70 to southbound K-7 double left turn lane movement will continue to be reduced to ONE OPEN left turn lane throughout the project duration. All access to/from Commercial Drive and K-7 will be CLOSED beginning tomorrow as well. During this construction phase, K-7 traffic must access Commercial Drive from Kansas Avenue and Commercial Drive traffic vice versa. There will be no access from southbound K-7 to Speaker Road, but there will be right in-right out access from northbound K-7 to Speaker Road and vice versa. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2014. (New 7-30-14)

I-70

24/7 TRAFFIC SHIFT: Eastbound I-70/Kansas Turnpike from 134th Street to just west of K-7 will be shifted to the north and restricted to two 12-foot wide lanes reducing both inside and outside shoulders to 4-foot each. This traffic shift is needed for adjacent ramp construction work for Phase One of the K-7 & I-70 Interchange Project in Wyandotte County. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early October 2014. (New 4-28-14)

118th Street Over I-70 Bridge Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2014

24/7 BRIDGE CLOSURE: 118th Street from Riverview Avenue to Speedway Boulevard will be CLOSED to all traffic for bridge replacement work beginning on Monday, March 17, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration. A marked detour will be provided via 110th Street. Access to Sunflower Hills Golf Course will remain open during the project duration. For golf course access, drivers will continue on Riverview Avenue to Tom Lally Drive. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2014. (New 3-21-14)

Gibbs Road over I-635 Bridge Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early September 2014

24/7 ROADWAY CLOSURE: Eastbound and westbound Gibbs Road from 42nd Street to 47th Street will be CLOSED to all through traffic, 24/7 round the clock, beginning on Monday, May 5, after morning rush hour, throughout the project duration. A marked detour will be provided. Traffic will detour via 42nd and 47th Streets to Shawnee Drive. Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early September 2014. (New 4-28-14) 

I-670 at 7th Street Bridge Joint Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-October 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES:  Westbound I-670 over the 7th Street bridge from the Kansas/Missouri state line west to just past the west end of the bridge will be reduced to TWO OPEN LANES, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration for bridge joint replacement work beginning on Monday, August 4. NOTE: The traffic control for this project will be directly adjacent to a Missouri Department of Transportation bridge repair project that has one lane of westbound I-670 over Genessee/Wyoming/Liberty/Beardsley Roads closed in the West Bottoms area. KDOT and MoDOT plan to coordinate traffic control on both projects to minimize overall traffic impacts for the traveling public. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-October 2014. (New 8-4-14) 

U.S. 73 / K-7 at Piper Creek Bridge Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2014

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 73/K-7 traffic will be shifted and placed side by side, one lane each direction, in the existing northbound U.S. 73/K-7 lanes from Parallel Parkway to Donahoo Road for bridge replacement work beginning around 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 9 through late September 2014. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2014. (Rev. 6-5-14)
