I-35 & I-435 Interchange Bridge Project

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 45-DAY RAMP CLOSURE: Northbound I-35 to westbound I-435 loop ramp will be CLOSED to all traffic for reconstruction work on the ramp, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6 and will reopen to all traffic on Wednesday, November 19, weather permitting. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp closures. A marked detour will be provided. Northbound I-35 traffic will exit at 95th Street back on southbound I-35 to access westbound I-435. Drivers should expect major delays during peak travel times and must use alternate routes during the ramp closure. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, November 19. (REV. 10-1-14)

Westbound I-435 from U.S. 69 to Quivira Road Area

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Westbound I-435 TWO right lanes from Antioch Road to U.S. 69 will be CLOSED for paving work on Friday, October 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 10-29-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 45-DAY RAMP CLOSURE: Westbound I-435 to Quivira Road exit ramp will be CLOSED to all traffic for ramp reconstruction work, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 1:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13 and will reopen to all traffic on Wednesday, November 26, weather permitting. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp closure. A marked detour will be provided. Westbound I-435 traffic will detour by taking the exit before the U.S. 69 interchange (just after Antioch Road interchange) and follow the collector-distributor road that runs parallel to westbound I-435 (on the north side) to exit at Quivira Road. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, November 26. (NEW 10-9-14)

I-435 & Pflumm Road Bridge Project

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT ROADWAY CLOSURE: Northbound and southbound Pflumm Road under the I-435 bridges between College Boulevard and 103rd Street will be CLOSED to all traffic for bridge deck pour work beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3 and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following morning on Tuesday, November 4, weather permitting. Access will be provided to local traffic only between College Boulevard and 103rd Street. There will be NO ACCESS to any traffic between 106th Street and 107th Street during the overnight closures. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the roadway closure. A marked detour will be provided. Pflumm Road traffic will detour via 103rd Street to College Boulevard to Quivira Road back to Pflumm Road. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday, November 4. (NEW 10-30-14)

K-10 & I-435 Interchange Bridge Project

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound K-10 left lane from Renner Road to I-435 will be CLOSED for setting of temporary barrier on Friday, October 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 10-27-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Northbound-435 right lane at the bridge over K-10 will be CLOSED for setting of temporary barrier on Friday, October 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 10-29-14)

K-10 & Ridgeview Road Interchange Bridge Project

No short-term project closures at this time. 

College Boulevard

TRAFFIC SHIFT: Eastbound and westbound College Boulevard traffic from Ridgeview Road to Renner Boulevard will experience a traffic shift during the afternoon on Friday, October 31. Construction crews will shift traffic to the south side of College Boulevard in order to continue to work on the north side of College Boulevard.  The westbound lanes will move south. The eastbound lane will remain in the current location  and traffic will be ‘head to head’ (side by side) one lane each direction for this temporary traffic pattern.  Traffic entering College Boulevard from Ambassador and Penrose will be able to make both left and right hand turns at this time. (NEW 10-30-14)


I-435 & Roe Avenue Diverging Diamond Interchange Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed by late November 2014 

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Northbound Roe Avenue right lane at I-435 will be CLOSED for median work on Friday, October 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 10-30-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKEND DAY LANE CLOSURES: The following lane closures will take place on I-435 at Roe Avenue for the removal of temporary barrier on Saturday, November 1. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Saturday, November 1. (NEW 10-28-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURES: Eastbound K-10 from Cedar Creek (Camp Creek) to the Douglas County line will have varying lane closures via a mobile operation for spray patching (pothole repair) on Thursday-Friday, October 30-31 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 10-28-14)

WYANDOTTE COUNTY

  

I-35 & 18th Street/U.S. 69 Interchange Ramp Overhead Sign Mast Replacement Project
Overall project work scheduled to be completed in late November 2014

EXPECT DELAYS!  WEEKDAY SHORT-TERM RAMP CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 to 18th Street/U.S. 69 exit ramps will be CLOSED intermittently for placing concrete footings on Friday, October 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp closures. A marked detour provided. Northbound and southbound I-35 traffic will detour via northbound I-635 to eastbound I-70 back to southbound 18th Street/U.S. 69. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 10-30-14) 

OVERNIGHT RAMP CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 to 18th Street/U.S. 69 exit ramps will be CLOSED to all traffic overnight each day beginning on Monday, October 27 through late November 2014, weather permitting. The ramps will be closed daily beginning at 7:00 p.m. and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following morning, seven days a week. The ramp closures are needed so crews can remove the existing overhead mast signs (located on the ramps themselves) and replace with new structures. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp closures. A marked detour provided. Northbound and southbound I-35 traffic will detour via northbound I-635 to eastbound I-70 back to southbound 18th Street/U.S. 69. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2014. (REV. 10-29-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURES: Southbound I-635 from Metropolitan Avenue to Gibbs Road will be reduced to TWO OPEN LANES for drain cleaning work on Friday, October 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 10-30-14)

U.S. 69 over Missouri River Bridge Replacement Project (MoDOT/KDOT Project)  > #us69moriverbridge
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in December 2016

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 69 from I-635 (in Missouri) to Kindleberger Road in Kansas will be reduced to one lane in each direction, 24/7, beginning on Friday, October 24 for bridge replacement work. Both northbound and southbound U.S. 69 traffic will travel on the existing northbound U.S. 69 bridge (Platte Purchase Bridge). A crossover will be used to shift southbound U.S. 69 traffic to the existing Platte Purchase Bridge. The traffic switch is scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2014 and traffic will remain in this configuration until Thursday, December 1, 2016. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, December 1. (NEW 10-27-14)

Long term project closures listed below typically take place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Project completion dates typically range from 31 days up to a year. All closures and scheduled work are weather permitting and subject to change.

 

JOHNSON COUNTY

Westbound I-435 from U.S. 69 to I-35

TRAFFIC SHIFT: Westbound I-435 traffic from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35 will be shifted to the south with three through and one auxiliary lane for reconstruction work on the westbound I-435 lanes, 24/7 round the clock, beginning on Thursday, September 4 through late 2014, weather permitting. Crews will begin setting traffic control at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3 and the traffic shift will be in place before morning rush hour on Thursday, September 4, weather permitting. 

Westbound I-435 traffic (from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35) will travel through the work zone via three through lanes and one auxiliary lane as follows: 

1) Far left lane traffic will travel through the work zone only directed via concrete barrier on either side of the driving lane. Traffic will travel on an 11-foot wide driving lane with an approximate 2-foot left shoulder and 8-foot right shoulder (lane is located in former eastbound I-435 lane/median area).
2) Center lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
3) Right lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
4) Far right auxiliary lane will be used for traffic wishing to access the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges  

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the traffic shift. There will be an 11-foot lane width restriction and a 55 mph posted speed limit through the project work zone throughout the project duration. Note: Eastbound I-435 traffic through this area has already been shifted to the south slightly to accommodate the westbound I-435 traffic shift. All ramp access will remain open at the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late 2014. (NEW 8-25-14)

College Boulevard

TRAFFIC SHIFT: Eastbound and westbound College Boulevard traffic from Ridgeview Road to Renner Boulevard will experience a traffic shift during the afternoon on Friday, October 31. Construction crews will shift traffic to the south side of College Boulevard in order to continue to work on the north side of College Boulevard.  The westbound lanes will move south. I-35 Spoon Creek & Bull Creek Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 over Spoon Creek and Bull Creek between Sunflower Road and Homestead Lane exits will be reduced to one lane each direction, 24/7 round the clock, for bridge repair work beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, through early September 2014. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (REV. 10-7-14)

K-10 over Cedar Creek Road Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Westbound K-10 over Cedar Creek Road Bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE for bridge repair work beginning on Wednesday, August 27. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2014. (REV. 10-9-14)

K-10 over Lexington Avenue, Kill Creek & Mill Creek Bridges Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early December 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE & RAMP CLOSURES: Eastbound and westbound K-10 over Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek bridges and eastbound K-10 over Mill Creek (east of Woodland Road) bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE , 24/7 round the clock, for bridge repair work beginning as follows: 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6 (delayed closing due to weather), westbound K-10 lane over the Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek bridges will be CLOSED; 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7 (delayed closing due to weather), eastbound K-10 lane over the Lexington Avenue bridge lane will be CLOSED; and at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8 (delayed closing due to weather), eastbound K-10 lane over the Kill Creek and Mill Creek bridges will be CLOSED.  

In addition, the westbound K-10 to Lexington Avenue exit ramp will be closed beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6,and the Lexington Avenue to eastbound K-10 entrance ramp will be closed beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7 (delayed closing due to weather). Both ramps will remain closed, 24/7 round the clock, through early to mid-November 2014. A marked detour will be provided as follows: Westbound K-10 traffic will take the Edgerton Road exit to loop around and head back on eastbound K-10 to the Lexington Avenue exit. Lexington Avenue traffic will head westbound on K-10 to the Edgerton Road exit and then loop around to head back on eastbound K-10. Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early December 2014. (REV. 10-7-14)

Woodland Road to Eastbound K-10 Entrance Ramp  

24/7 RAMP CLOSURE: Woodland Road to eastbound K-10 entrance ramp will be CLOSED to all traffic beginning after morning rush hour on Friday, October 24 and reopening to all traffic in early December 2014, weather permitting. The ramp will be closed to help alleviate traffic congestion issues related to a lane reduction for repair work underway on the adjacent Mill Creek bridge project, located just east of Woodland Road. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp closure. No marked detour provided. Suggested alternate route for Woodland Road traffic: Take Woodland Road north to Prairie Star Parkway then east on Prairie Star Parkway and then continue east on 95th Street to I-435. Drivers will need to use alternate routes during the ramp closure. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014. (NEW 10-22-14)

U.S. 69 Bridge Over I-435 Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE & RAMP CLOSURES: Northbound U.S. 69 from .5-miles south of the bridge over I-435 to just north of the bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE for repair work beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration. In addition, the eastbound I-435 to northbound U.S. 69 and northbound U.S. 69 to westbound I-435 loop ramps will be CLOSED beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration. A marked detour will be provided. Eastbound I-435 to northbound U.S. 69 traffic will detour via southbound U.S. 69 to College Boulevard to access northbound U.S. 69. Northbound U.S. 69 to westbound I-435 traffic will detour via 103rd Street to southbound U.S. 69 to access westbound I-435. LEAVENWORTH COUNTY

 

U.S. 73 / K-7 Pavement Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 73/K-7 from 20th Street to the north junction of Leavenworth County Road 14/Santa Fe Trail will be CLOSED to all traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7 for pavement replacement work. A marked detour will be provided via Leavenworth County Road 14. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014. (NEW 7-3-14)

 

WYANDOTTE COUNTY

 

I-70 & K-7 Interchange Project
Overall project work scheduled to be completed in late Fall 2014

I-70

24/7 TRAFFIC SHIFT: Eastbound I-70/Kansas Turnpike from 134th Street to just west of K-7 will be shifted to the north and restricted to two 12-foot wide lanes reducing both inside and outside shoulders to 4-foot each. This traffic shift is needed for adjacent ramp construction work for Phase One of the K-7 & I-70 Interchange Project in Wyandotte County. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late November 2014. (REV. 10-7-14)

118th Street Over I-70 Bridge Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2014

24/7 BRIDGE CLOSURE: 118th Street from Riverview Avenue to Speedway Boulevard will be CLOSED to all traffic for bridge replacement work beginning on Monday, March 17, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration. A marked detour will be provided via 110th Street. Access to Sunflower Hills Golf Course will remain open during the project duration. For golf course access, drivers will continue on Riverview Avenue to Tom Lally Drive. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2014. (NEW 3-21-14)
