I-35 & I-435 Interchange Bridge Project

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT RAMP CLOSURE: Southbound I-35 to eastbound I-435 loop ramp will be CLOSED to all traffic so that crews can strip form work from the bridge deck beginning at 10:00 p.m. on both Thursday-Friday, October 9-10 and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following morning, Friday-Saturday, October 10-11. Suggested alternate route: Southbound I-35 traffic can detour via 119th Street exit back to northbound I-35 to access eastbound I-435. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Saturday, October 11. (REV. 9-29-14) 

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT RAMP CLOSURE: Westbound I-435 to northbound and southbound I-35 loop ramps will be CLOSED to all traffic so that crews can set bridge girders beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2 and reopening at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3. Message boards will provide detour route via Lackman Road to 101st Terrace to Santa Fe Trail Road to 105th Street back to eastbound I-435. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 3. (NEW 9-25-14) 

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING 24/7 45-DAY RAMP CLOSURE:  Northbound I-35 to westbound I-435 loop ramp will be CLOSED to all traffic for reconstruction work on the ramp, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6 and will reopen to all traffic on Wednesday, November 19, weather permitting. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp closures. A marked detour will be provided. Northbound I-35 traffic will exit at 95th Street back on southbound I-35 to access westbound I-435. Drivers should expect major delays during peak travel times and must use alternate routes during the ramp closure. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, November 19. (REV. 10-1-14)

95th Street at I-35 Bridge Project

EXPECT DELAYS! OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES: Westbound 95th Street left lane at I-35; eastbound 95th Street left turn lane to northbound I-35 and northbound I-35 to 95th Street exit ramp far left turn lane will be CLOSED for median removal work beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday-Friday, September 30-October 3 and reopening to all traffic at 5:00 a.m. the following morning on Thursday-Saturday, October 2-4. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Saturday, October 4. (NEW 9-30-14)

Pflumm Road at I-435 Bridge Project

EXPECT DELAYS! UPCOMING WEEKDAY OVERNIGHT ROADWAY CLOSURE:  Northbound and southbound Pflumm Road under the I-435 bridges between College Boulevard and 103rd Street will be CLOSED to all traffic so that crews can set bridge girders beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Monday-Tuesday, October 6-7 and reopening at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday-Wednesday, October 7-8. Advance message boards will alert traffic to the roadway closure. A marked detour will be provided. Pflumm Road traffic will detour via 103rd Street to College Boulevard to Quivira Road back to Pflumm Road. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, October 8. (NEW 9-25-14) 

K-10 & I-435 Interchange Bridge Project

CANCELLED FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2 ONLY! EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound K-10 left lane lane from Renner Road to I-435 will be CLOSED for bridge work on Tuesday-Friday, September 30-October 3 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 3. (REV. 10-1-14)

K-10 & Ridgeview Road Interchange Bridge Project

No short-term project closures at this time. 


I-35 & 75th Street Interchange Ramp Closures
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late August 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 RAMP CLOSURES: Southbound I-35 to 75th Street exit ramp and 75th Street to northbound I-35 entrance ramp will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for pavement repair work for a City of Overland Park construction project beginning sometime on Tuesday, September 2 through late October 2014. Marked detours will be provided. Southbound I-35 traffic will detour via 67th Street exit and take eastbound 67th Street to Antioch Road, then southbound Antioch Road to eastbound 75th Street back to southbound I-35. 75th Street to northbound I-35 traffic will proceed eastbound on 75th Street across the bridge over I-35 to Antioch Road, then northbound on Antioch Road to westbound 67th Street back to northbound I-35. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (NEW 8-22-14)  

I-435 & Roe Avenue Diverging Diamond Interchange Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed by late November 2014 

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 RAMP CLOSURES: All ramps at the I-435 and Roe Avenue interchange will be CLOSED to all traffic, 24/7 round the clock, beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15 for 35 consecutive days and will reopen to all traffic by Monday, October 20, weather permitting. The ramp closures are needed for construction work to tie-in the ramp pavement to the new Roe Avenue bridge structures to complete the new diverging diamond interchange configuration. There will be no ramp access from Roe Avenue to I-435 or conversely, I-435 to Roe Avenue. Northbound Roe Avenue will be closed at 109th Street to through traffic and southbound Roe Avenue will be closed at 107th Street to through traffic during the 35-day closure. Marked detours will be provided. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Monday, October 20. (NEW 9-9-14)

K-10 over Cedar Creek Parkway Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Westbound K-10 over Cedar Creek Parkway Bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE for bridge repair work beginning on Wednesday, August 27. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (NEW 8-27-14)

K-10 over Lexington Avenue, Kill Creek Road & Mill Creek Bridges Repair Project

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE & RAMP CLOSURES: Eastbound and westbound K-10 over Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek Road bridges and eastbound K-10 over Mill Creek bridge will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE , 24/7 round the clock, for bridge repair work beginning as follows: 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, westbound K-10 over the Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek Road bridges lanes will be CLOSED; 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, eastbound K-10 over the Lexington Avenue and Kill Creek Road bridges lanes will be CLOSED; and at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, eastbound K-10 over the Mill Creek bridge lane will be CLOSED

In addition, the westbound K-10 to Lexington Avenue exit ramp will be closed beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, and the Lexington Avenue to eastbound K-10 entrance ramp will be closed beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2. Both ramps will remain closed, 24/7 round the clock, through early to mid-November 2014. A marked detour will be provided. Westbound K-10 traffic will loop around at Edgerton Road to eastbound K-10 to Lexington Avenue and Lexington Avenue traffic will head west on K-10 and loop around to go back on eastbound K-10. Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in early December 2014. U.S. 56 (Shawnee Mission Parkway)

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound U.S. 56/Shawnee Mission Parkway left lane from Squibb Road to Metcalf Avenue will be CLOSED for contract milling test work on Thursday, October 2 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, October 2(NEW 10-1-14)

U.S. 69 (Metcalf Avenue)

WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Southbound U..S. 69 right lane 1/4 mile south of Foster Avenue will be CLOSED for contract milling test work on Thursday, October 2 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, October 2(NEW 10-1-14) 

U.S. 169/K-7/151st Street at I-35

24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Northbound K-7/U.S. 169 right turn lane onto Hamilton Circle will be CLOSED for pavement replacement work beginning on Thursday, September 26. NOTE: Small vehicles can make right turns, but trucks, semis, must use posted detour via Public Safety Road. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-October. (NEW 9-25-14)

I-70 & K-7 Interchange Project
Overall project work scheduled to be completed in late Fall 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Westbound I-70 right lane at K-7 will be CLOSED for pouring of barrier wall on Thursday-Friday, October 2-3 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 3. (NEW 10-1-14) 

118th Street Over I-70 Bridge Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! WEEKDAY LANE CLOSURE: Eastbound and westbound I-70 at 118th Street will be reduced to ONE OPEN LANE each direction for bridge work on Tuesday-Friday, September 2-October 3 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 3. (REV. 9-19-14)

Long term project closures listed below typically take place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Project completion dates typically range from 31 days up to a year. All closures and scheduled work are weather permitting and subject to change.

 

JOHNSON COUNTY

Westbound I-435 from U.S. 69 to I-35

TRAFFIC SHIFT: Westbound I-435 traffic from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35 will be shifted to the south with three through and one auxiliary lane for reconstruction work on the westbound I-435 lanes, 24/7 round the clock, beginning on Thursday, September 4 through late 2014, weather permitting. Crews will begin setting traffic control at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3 and the traffic shift will be in place before morning rush hour on Thursday, September 4, weather permitting. 

Westbound I-435 traffic (from U.S. 69 to just west of I-35) will travel through the work zone via three through lanes and one auxiliary lane as follows: 

1) Far left lane traffic will travel through the work zone only directed via concrete barrier on either side of the driving lane. Traffic will travel on an 11-foot wide driving lane with an approximate 2-foot left shoulder and 8-foot right shoulder (lane is located in former eastbound I-435 lane/median area).
2) Center lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
3) Right lane traffic will travel through the work zone as normal
4) Far right auxiliary lane will be used for traffic wishing to access the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges  

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the traffic shift. There will be an 11-foot lane width restriction and a 55 mph posted speed limit through the project work zone throughout the project duration. Note: Eastbound I-435 traffic through this area has already been shifted to the south slightly to accommodate the westbound I-435 traffic shift. All ramp access will remain open at the U.S. 69, Quivira Road and I-35 interchanges. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late 2014. (NEW 8-25-14)

College Boulevard

TRAFFIC SHIFT: Eastbound and westbound College Boulevard traffic from Ridgeview Road to Renner Boulevard will shift lanes to the eastbound lanes (one new lane/one existing lane) beginning this Saturday, September 27. Traffic will be placed one lane each direction. Theeastbound lane will be moved to the south onto the new pavement. The westbound lane will remain in its current location. The new configuration will allow for work to be done in both the middle and north side of College. This traffic shift is needed to allow for continued construction work to widen the westbound lanes of College Boulevard. Once this traffic shift has been completed, both Penrose Street and Ambassador Street traffic will have right turn only access onto College Boulevard. I-35 & 75th Street Interchange Ramp Closures
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late August 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 RAMP CLOSURES: Southbound I-35 to 75th Street exit ramp and 75th Street to northbound I-35 entrance ramp will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock, for pavement repair work for a City of Overland Park construction project beginning sometime on Tuesday, September 2 through late October 2014. Marked detours will be provided. Southbound I-35 traffic will detour via 67th Street exit and take eastbound 67th Street to Antioch Road, then southbound Antioch Road to eastbound 75th Street back to southbound I-35. 75th Street to northbound I-35 traffic will proceed eastbound on 75th Street across the bridge over I-35 to Antioch Road, then northbound on Antioch Road to westbound 67th Street back to northbound I-35. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (NEW 8-22-14) 

I-35 Spoon Creek & Bull Creek Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound I-35 over Spoon Creek and Bull Creek between Sunflower Road and Homestead Lane exits will be reduced to one lane each direction, 24/7 round the clock, for bridge repair work beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, through early September 2014. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2014. (Rev. 8-22-14)

I-435 at 87th Street Bridge Repair Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed by late September 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound I-435 at 87th Street will be reduced to two open lanes beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14 and then at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, southbound I-435 at 87th Street will be reduced to two open lanes and these lane closures will remain in place, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration for bridge repair work. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2014. (REV. 8-28-14)

I-435 & Roe Avenue Diverging Diamond Interchange Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed by late November 2014

Roe Avenue

LONG-TERM 24/7 LANE CLOSURE: Northbound Roe Avenue left lane at 109th Street will be CLOSED for bridge work beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22 and will reopen to all traffic on Friday, October 31. Project work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, October 31. (NEW 8-21-14)

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 ROADWAY CLOSURE: Roe Avenue over I-435 will be CLOSED to all traffic through beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, as crews complete construction work on the new Roe Avenue bridges. Marked detours will be provided. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (New 5-28-14)

24/7 RAMP LANE CLOSURE: Westbound I-435 to Roe Avenue entrance ramp left turn lane will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock beginning on Wednesday, May 28 at 9:00 a.m. for bridge replacement work. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (Rev. 5-30-14)

24/7 RAMP LANE CLOSURES: All left turn movements from eastbound I-435 ramps to Roe Avenue will be CLOSED, 24/7 round the clock beginning on Thursday, May 29 at 9:00 a.m. for bridge replacement work. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late October 2014. (Rev. 5-30-14)

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY

 

U.S. 73 / K-7 Pavement Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014

24/7 LANE CLOSURES: Northbound and southbound U.S. 73/K-7 from 20th Street to the north junction of Leavenworth County Road 14/Santa Fe Trail will be CLOSED to all traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7 for pavement replacement work. A marked detour will be provided via Leavenworth County Road 14. Project work is scheduled to be completed in late December 2014. (NEW 7-3-14)

 

WYANDOTTE COUNTY

 

I-70 & K-7 Interchange Project
Overall project work scheduled to be completed in late Fall 2014

I-70

24/7 TRAFFIC SHIFT: Eastbound I-70/Kansas Turnpike from 134th Street to just west of K-7 will be shifted to the north and restricted to two 12-foot wide lanes reducing both inside and outside shoulders to 4-foot each. This traffic shift is needed for adjacent ramp construction work for Phase One of the K-7 & I-70 Interchange Project in Wyandotte County. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early October 2014. (New 4-28-14)

118th Street Over I-70 Bridge Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2014

24/7 BRIDGE CLOSURE: 118th Street from Riverview Avenue to Speedway Boulevard will be CLOSED to all traffic for bridge replacement work beginning on Monday, March 17, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration. A marked detour will be provided via 110th Street. Access to Sunflower Hills Golf Course will remain open during the project duration. For golf course access, drivers will continue on Riverview Avenue to Tom Lally Drive. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November 2014. (New 3-21-14)

I-670 at 7th Street Bridge Joint Replacement Project
Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-October 2014

EXPECT DELAYS! 24/7 LANE CLOSURES:  Westbound I-670 over the 7th Street bridge from the Kansas/Missouri state line west to just past the west end of the bridge will be reduced to TWO OPEN LANES, 24/7 round the clock, throughout the project duration for bridge joint replacement work beginning on Monday, August 4. NOTE: The traffic control for this project will be directly adjacent to a Missouri Department of Transportation bridge repair project that has one lane of westbound I-670 over Genessee/Wyoming/Liberty/Beardsley Roads closed in the West Bottoms area. KDOT and MoDOT plan to coordinate traffic control on both projects to minimize overall traffic impacts for the traveling public. Project work is scheduled to be completed in mid-October 2014. (New 8-4-14)
